Centuries to Cameron White and Michael Klinger powered Victoria to their highest total in a domestic one-day game and an eight-wicket win over New South Wales at Canberra’s Manuka Oval. So dominant were White and Klinger that they reached the target of 296 with 17 balls to spare.White’s 126 not out – his highest score in a 50-over match – came from only 100 deliveries and included nine fours and five sixes. But things could have been very different had the Blues held on to their chances. Jason Krejza dropped a straightforward chance in the outfield when White was on 3 and Phil Jaques also put down the Victoria captain at cover when White had 24.Klinger was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 123, a chanceless innings of correct strokeplay that netted him 16 fours. The 202-run partnership between White and Klinger continued a day of batting dominance after New South Wales set what should have been an imposing total of 5 for 295.Ed Cowan made 119 – his first one-day century for the Blues – from 120 balls and together with Simon Katich added 193 for the second wicket. Without the responsibility of opening, Katich returned to form with 83, his first limited-overs score of any note since returning from the Champions Trophy in India.
